WHO I AM
I am Tom Holmes, the Democratic Nominee for the Alabama Board of Education, District 1,
representing Baldwin, Butler, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia, and Mobile Counties.
Retired after 13 years as CEO/Executive Director of The Arc of Alabama, Inc.
Retired after 30+ years of public service as Chief of Science and Technology Section
at the State of Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
American citizen, native of Mobile and Alabama.
Son of Fred Sr. and Annie Jo Holmes, who are both deceased.
Brother of three siblings – two brothers, Fred Jr. and Bill, and one sister, Delores.
Married my high school sweetheart, Rachael Montgomery.
Rachael and I were married for 46 years before she passed from cancer in 2012.
Rachael and I are the parents of one son, Thomas II, a 43-year-old man
with intellectual and developmental disabilities, for whom I am the primary caregiver.

at Trinity Episcopal Church, Mobile, and respecting the religious BELIEFS of others.
